The Maine State Building was built in 1893 for the World’s Fair in Chicago, brought back to Poland Spring by the Ricker family, and is now a museum of the history of Poland Spring Resort.
Though it ended up not lasting more than one year, it may have saved the Olympic Games as it brought attention that was needed after the 1900 games were overshadowed by the World’s Fair in Paris and St. Louis.
